British Cycling has settled a claim for property damage on behalf of a participant in a cycle sportive after an incident involving a third party motor vehicle. The incident took place during the Wiggle Super Series – New Forest 100 Sportive in October 2011.

The participant was riding down a steep hill in wet weather conditions. As he reached the bottom of the hill, he and several other riders had to brake hard due to the presence of an oncoming vehicle. Unfortunately, the Participant skidded and caught the oncoming vehicle causing damage to the front bumper and bonnet.

Liability for the accident was admitted. British Cycling settled the claim made against the participant on his behalf in the sum of £1,244.26.
