British Cycling settles claim for property damage to a third party’s vehicle

Share |

British Cycling has settled a claim for property damage behalf of a Race Gold British Cycling member in relation to a road traffic accident which occurred whilst he was taking part in an event organised by Cycling Time Trials whose insurance only applies in the absence of any other insurance policy.

Our member took a left hand turn wide and went over the white line before colliding with a vehicle which was travelling in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident he sustained serious injuries which necessitated him spending two nights in hospital. The third party’s car was damaged and a claim was made against our member for the cost of repairs.

Liability for the accident was admitted and as part of his membership our member had the benefit of British Cycling’s third party (public) liability insurance cover. As a result the claim made against him has been settled on his behalf in the sum of £2,517.22 by British Cycling and its insurers. Our member also had the benefit of personal accident insurance with his Race Gold membership and received a hospital cash benefit in the sum of £50.00.
