British Cycling member Simon Rousell has successfully recovered damages in relation to a road traffic accident, which occurred on 4 September 2009, as he was cycling along Hockham Lane.

Simon was travelling on his bicycle along Hockham Lane in Martley, and as he navigated a left turn in the road, Simon noticed a Landrover pulling out of the entrance to a nearby property on his nearside. The entrance to the property was too close to the bend in the road and Simon was thrown over the handlebars of his bicycle and landed on the road, before skidding into the third party vehicle.

As a result of the impact Simon was thrown from his bicycle and sustained personal injury, damage to his bicycle and other consequential losses.

Liability for the accident was admitted by the Defendant. Ben received compensation for his personal injury and the damage to his bicycle.

Simon, was represented by Penny Knight in Leigh Day and Co’s Cycling and Sports Injuries Team and his claim was supported and funded by British Cycling.
