British Cycling member Katie Curtis has successfully recovered damages in relation to a road traffic accident, which occurred on 13 October 2010 as she was cycling along Cathays Terrace.

As Katie was travelling along Cathays Terrace, approaching Maindy Roadto her nearside, the defendant pulled out of the junction when it was unsafe. Katie had no time to take evasive action, causing a collision with the Defendant’s vehicle. As a result of the impact Katie sustained personal injury, damage to her bicycle and other consequential losses.

Liability for the accident was admitted by the Defendant. Katie received compensation for his personal injury and the damage to his bicycle.

Katie, was represented by Phillip Hunter in Leigh Day and Co’s Cycling and Sports Injuries Team and his claim was supported and funded by British Cycling.
