Over 5,000 tickets have now been sold for the showpiece event of the British track season, which takes place at the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre between January 26 and 28.

Archibald began 2017 by winning the individual pursuit, points and scratch race titles at the championships in Manchester, before going on to claim world and European titles to add to her maiden Olympic gold medal won in Rio in 2016.

Ahead of the 2018 championships, Archibald said:

“It’s always a privilege to wear the national champion’s jersey, and to win three titles at the HSBC UK | National Track Championships last January was a great way to start what turned out to be a fantastic year on the track.

“There’s really tough competition in every event – the strength in depth when it comes to female track racing in this country is outstanding – so it’ll be a big challenge to defend all three titles, but it’s one I’m looking forward to.”

Last year’s event was the best-attended track championships of the modern era, and with 5,000 tickets already sold across the five sessions this year, Archibald believes that the atmosphere will again be electric as some of the sport’s biggest names go head-to-head.

“The atmosphere at last year’s championships was fantastic,” Archibald continued. “This year we’re coming off the back of the Manchester round of the UCI TISSOT Track World Cup, where the home crowd was a huge factor in us performing so well, so it’ll be great to get out on the same track in front of full houses again.”

The HSBC UK | National Track Championships take place at the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre, Manchester between January 26 and 28.
