British Cycling has named the three Great Britain riders who will compete at the forthcoming UCI BMX World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand from 24 – 28 July 2013.

Olympian Liam Phillips, who won the gold medal in both the Time Trial and Supercross final at the recent World Cup round in Manchester, has been selected as has Academy rider Kyle Evans. Three-time world champion Shanaze Reade has been named for the team; however this is dependent on her knee injury recently sustained during training.

Performance Manager Shane Sutton said: “We’ve seen some impressive career-best results from Liam so far this season and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do out in Auckland.

“The fact we are also able to send Kyle, a young Academy athlete, to a long-haul World Championships is testament to the indoor BMX facility we have here in Manchester.

“We will be monitoring Shanaze’s injury carefully over the next couple of weeks and we will make a decision on her selection in due course.”
