Report: East Anglia BMX Regional Series Round 7

Posted August 2 2010

The seventh round of the East Anglia BMX 2010 Summer Series moved to the home track of the Norwich Flyers BMX Club last Sunday and with over 100 competitors registered to compete in the event the day was full of competitive racing on the long wide track and although threatening clouds were around all day the rain only came for one short sharp period which happily coincided with a natural break in the action..

Royston Rockets had eighteen riders taking part across all age classes starting with the 7 and Under novices where Royston's Callum Barrow took the first place with Brendan Salmon finishing in 3rd whilst in the 8yr Expert category Alfie Salmon finish in 2nd which was the same positioned achieved by Ted Dalleywater in the 9 year class.

The 10 year class saw the Rockets lead the pack all day with Miles Fisher grabbing another win just ahead of team mate Daniel Blanche and the same results were achieved for the club in the 11 year class with Ethan Vernon taking the win ahead of Aaron Daslleywater in second. The 12 year category saw Matthew Harris claim 7th overall and another win came Royston's way in the 14 year class where James Handleigh lead the class all day.

In the 15's the 3rd place went to Jordan Godfrey which was also the finishing position for Andrew Brooker in the 16's. In the girls classes Royston's Faye Godfrey took 3rd in the 11-12 year group and Helen Nicholl going one better with a 2nd in the 25+ Ladies cruiser class as did David Thompson in the 25-29 category whilst 4th place went to Alex Shore-Nye in the Masters (30+) class and in the

Vets (40+) class the win went to Royston's Darren Forman and the clubs only cruiser rider on the day, Matt Salmon, took 3rd in the 35-39 class.

The Rockets hold their regular Tuesday night sessions from 6.00pm and next weekend many members will travelling south to Gosport for the 9th and 10th rounds of the British Cycling National BMX series before returning to regional racing at Ipswich on August 15th.
