Welsh Open BMX Race: Sunday 21st March 2010

Posted March 8 2010

Tred BMX Club is hosting the first Welsh Open BMX race this month. Tred BMX will be hosting the event at their track in Parc Bryn Bach to encourage other riders to take up the sport.

Club youth representative and BMX competitor, Ashley Ransom, 16, will be organising the event along with other club members.

"I want to show people how they can use the track properly by putting on a big event. It will show them how good BMX racing is."

Ashley hopes that putting the race on may be the start of other BMX clubs popping up across Wales and will eventually lead to a Welsh national series.

Welsh Cycling are supporting the event along with Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and other local businesses. Volunteers are welcome to help out on the day in any way they can.

The club is hoping to attract over 100 riders from all over the UK, both young and experienced cyclists are welcome to be introduced to the sport and take part. The park also has a mountain bike club with trails on site alongside cycle maintenance and hire facilities.

The race will take place on Sunday 21st March 2010 at Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar. More information can be found at www.tredbmx.wordpress.com or email tredbmx@hotmail.co.uk
