Telford plays host to rounds nine and ten of the 2018 HSBC UK | BMX National Series this weekend.

It’s the second time that Wrekin Riders will play host to a round of the series since the venue opened in 2014.

How the series works

Riders are awarded points based on their results in each round (up to a maximum of 100 points per round). A rider’s best seven result from the 12 rounds in the series makes up their total. The rider with the highest total in their respective category is crowned HSBC UK | BMX National Series champion.

Burnham BMX Club’s Eddie Moore is the early leader of the HSBC UK | BMX National Series with 476.5 points from the opening six rounds of competition.

Moore’s lead could be challenged this weekend though with a number of Great Britain Cycling Team riders looking to find form ahead of the European Championships in Glasgow next week.

Curtis Manaton (Burnham BMX Club) is currently second in the series standings and will be representing his country in Scotland – as will third-placed Kye Whyte (Peckham Challengers BMX Club).

Paddy Sharrock (Mid Lancs BMX) and Kyle Evans (Preston Pirates BMX Club) are also looking to take momentum up to Glasgow after this weekend’s competition.

Championship women

Lauren Stack (Burnham BMX Club) is currently top of the pile with 486 points and will be keen to extend her lead in Telford.

Second-placed rider Charlie Hartwell (Birmingham BMX Club) will be hot on her heels with Libby Smith (Redditch Premiers BMX Club), the current third-placed rider, not in action this weekend.

T.N.T.’s Beth Shriever – another set to compete for Great Britain Cycling Team in Glasgow – is currently fourth in the standings but has only competed in four of six rounds this season.

Shriever – who has won a round of the elite world cup this season – is undefeated in this year’s HSBC UK | BMX National Series.
