The HSBC UK | BMX National Series returns to Manchester for rounds seven and eight of 12 at Manchester BMX Club’s Platt Fields.

The HSBC UK National Cycling Centre was host to the opening two rounds of the series but riders will now battle the elements, as well as each other, in Manchester at the outdoor Platt Fields track.

How the series works

Riders are rewarded points based on their results in each round (up to maximum of 100 points per round). A rider’s best seven results from the 12 rounds in the series makes up their total. The rider with the highest total in their respective category is crowned BMX National Series champion.

Superclass

Curtis Manaton at the HSBC UK BMX National Series.

Defending champion Curtis Manaton has been in superb form, winning the last four rounds of the competition.

Manaton missed the opening weekend of racing in Manchester but has since gone undefeated in Birmingham and Cumbernauld.

The Burnham BMX Club rider sits in third overall with Kye Whyte leading the pack.

Whyte won both rounds at the National Cycling Centre and has since consistency scored well. A stunning comeback to win the junior men’s race at the UEC BMX European Cup on Sunday proved the Peckham Challenger’s great form.

But a stacked field that includes Kye’s brother Tre, Euan Hunt, Tian Isidore and Billy Luckhurst will make for competitive racing.

Bethany Shriever’s excellent performances on the international and domestic stage have seen the 18-year-old roll off four wins in a row in the championship women category.

Shriever’s efforts see her locked in a battle with Charlotte Green at the top of the standings, Green leading by just two points.

Cornwall BMX Racing Club’s Green has shown superb consistency, quite remarkably finishing second at all six rounds so far.

Emily Green and Blaine Ridge-Davis complete the top four and will provide stern competition.
