Bethany Shriever and Curtis Manaton continued their success in the HSBC UK | National BMX Series as rounds five and six headed to Cumbernauld, Scotland, on their new track.

The venue has quickly become a favourite with the riders, and particularly so with Manaton and Shriever as they each romped to victory on both Saturday and Sunday.

The wet weather was a stark contrast to the last two weekends’ competition, but it mattered little to the series leaders as they further extended their advantage at the top of the domestic standings.

Shriever shines in Scotland

The 18-year-old, who recently recorded her best ever result at a UCI BMX Supercross World Cup event with sixth in round two, cruised through her motos on Saturday.

Her final proved far more taxing, but she overcame a wheelspin out of the gate and picked her way through the field, eventually passing rival Charlotte Green in the final corner to win by the narrowest of margins.

Sunday mirrored the previous day’s motos, with Shriever winning all three of hers to take prime position in the final.

And a much improved start saw her lead the field to the line, with Green once again finishing second behind the talented teenager.

"I feel pretty good about Sunday’s win, the weather was so much better than Saturday's so I was able to enjoy the racing a lot more," she said.

"I had a clean sweep in my motos as I did on Saturday and went into the final feeling pretty confidant. I went from gate one and had a good start, well at least I didn’t wheelspin this time, and just led from the front, taking it all the way to the line taking my second win of the weekend."

Manaton motors to double win

Kye White dominated the motos in Saturday’s round five, and subsequently chose to start from gate one in the final.

But it was Manaton that impressed in the crucial showdown as he took the inside line, and with it control of the race, as White crashed hard in the second corner to leave his brother Tre to finish second.

Manaton was in more dominant form in Sunday’s round six as he won all his motos and had enjoyed a cruise through his final to secure his double win.

Kye returned from his crash on Saturday to finish second, with Tre in third, but the weekend was all about Manaton.

“I’m really pleased the sun stayed out today made the racing more enjoyable!” He said. “I managed to win all of my motos which meant I went into the final with first pit and went in lane two and had a really good start.

“I wasn’t sure how close any of the others were so I just made sure I kept it full gas all the way round and took the win. I’m quite a big fan of this track even more so with such a successful weekend. Two final wins. I’ll take that.

“I’ve got a bit of a rest now and a bit more training ready for the next rounds in Manchester, another favourite of mine and hopefully I continue in picking up more wins.”
