Liam Phillips took fifth and Kyle Evans 13th in the time trial superfinal at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Papendal on Saturday.

Ranked in the overall top 16 of the series after two rounds, the duo had automatically qualified for Sunday’s racing and faced one lap against the clock.

Phillips, who won a fourth consecutive Manchester UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in April, recorded a time of 37.333 seconds.

Kyle Evans was 13th in the time trial

Evans finished behind his teammate in second at the National Cycling Centre and is third in the world cup rankings, managed 38.439 seconds as Canadian Tory Nyhaug won a third successive time trial in 36.861 seconds.

Qualifying

Outside the top 16, Quillan Isidore and Tre Whyte faced three motos to book their spots in Sunday’s racing.

The top 48 progressed and a sixth, second and first over the respective three heats was enough for 19-year-old Isidore, taking 42nd.
