The Great Britain Cycling Team end the 2014 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup at Chula Vista in California on 26-27 September.

A three-man squad of Liam Phillips, Kyle Evans and Tre Whyte will aim to finish on a high in the five-round series and with Olympic qualifying points on offer, strong performances will be key at the United States Olympic Training Centre.

Charlotte Green misses out in the elite women’s event. The 19-year-old is still recovering from an injury sustained at the British Cycling National BMX Championships.

The team

Liam Phillips carries Britain’s challenge in the race for overall honours. The 25-year-old has appeared on the podium in three of the four rounds to date including victory in Manchester.

Second earlier this month in Santiago del Estero has helped the Burnham-on-Sea rider to a 130-point cushion over second-place Anthony Dean but the race the title is far from over with 225 points available to the winner in California.

Phillips, 2013 world champion, would become the first British male to win the title if he can clinch the series in the USA.

“I’d much rather be in the position I am in than chasing,” said Phillips.

“The only thing that is in my control is to go out on the track and have another good race. I want to end the season the same way I started so if I can do that the overall will take care of itself.”

Kyle Evans has taken two top-ten finishes - in Manchester and Berlin. The 20-year-old sits in 10th overall and is hoping to secure his position as he completes a full world cup campaign for the first time.

"The Olympic qualification has started now so every world cup we go to is a strong world cup,” he said.

“At the end of the day I'm just here to do my best and keep focussed. If I focus on myself and deliver what I've got in the tank then there's no reason why I can't be in the final."

Tre Whyte’s racing ended in the motos in Argentina and the world bronze medallist will be keen to go further as he ends a season which has delivered a career-best result in Rotterdam.

The venue

The United States Olympic Training Centre has hosted the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup finals since 2009 and is the longest running event on the circuit.

The track, a replica of the London Olympic Games course that was introduced 2012, is one of the fastest and most demanding circuits in the world.
