“The British National Track Championships is the first opportunity for people to see a major track cycling competition in the UK after the successful London Olympic Games. Many of the riders who are now household names made their breakthrough at the national championships and we can expect to see emerging here some of the riders who will be carrying our hopes in Rio 2016 and beyond.”
“With a national champion’s jersey at stake, the National Championships always produces highly competitive racing with every national title fiercely contested. Spectators are in line to witness an exhilarating spectacle.”
Councillor Rosa Battle, Manchester City Council executive member for culture and leisure, said:
“Interest in cycling is at an all time high following Team GB's momentous success at this year’s Olympics and I’m certain the British Cycling Senior National Track Championships will be incredibly popular.
“The championships will give people the chance to see a major competition at the venue that was crucial in helping British cyclists win such an impressive hall of medals at London 2012.
“The National Cycling Centre is open to everyone and I hope that seeing some of the country’s best athletes compete will inspire a future generation to get on a bike and give the sport a try.”
