Event: 27 May 2013

Following a turbulent few days, Yorkshire club Nutcracker Racing are pleased to announce that the Richmond Grass Track Meeting, due to be held on Monday 27 May is firmly back on the calendar and open for business.

The event was cancelled earlier this week by former organisers Richmond Cycling Club following an apparent lack of entries. Not wanting to see the event disappear from the calendar and having been involved with the original resurrection of this event back in 2004, the Nutcracker Racing event team quickly stepped in to save what is probably the oldest cycling event in the UK. No strangers to National level events, Nutcracker Racing have also confirmed that the National 800m Championship event will go ahead as planned, alongside a round of the National Endurance League, though it’s not yet decided over what distance the endurance event will be held.

Due to the formal cancellation of the event earlier this week, those that had pre-entered have already had their entries withdrawn and refunded. Whilst the refund may take a few days to come through, these riders must re-enter the event via the British Cycling website in order to maintain their entry. Nutcracker Racing and British Cycling apologise for the inconvenience caused here – but due to the formal cancellation by the previous organiser, the wheels had already been set in motion to issue the refunds, which is an irreversible process.

As mentioned above, entries have now been re-opened and will remain open until midday on Thursday 23 May. It is hoped that the later closing date will encourage more riders to enter.

The final racing schedule for the day is being re-jigged to offer a more crowd-friendly environment, with an overall more relaxed feel to the day’s festivities.

In the meantime – riders are being urged to get their entries in and support the event.
