British Cycling’s popular challenging and pacey bike rides ‘Ride Strong Plus’ are back and cyclists are being invited to get on their bikes and go the extra mile.

These free organised rides will be led by trained British Cycling Ride Leaders and are ideal for anyone who has been thinking of joining a cycle club, is training for their next cycling challenge or charity bike ride, or who simply wants to take their cycling to the next level and push themselves.

Taking place every Sunday from 3 February to Sunday 28 April, these adult-only rides cover 20 to 50 mile routes with a few hills and challenging climbs thrown in for good measure. They’re not for the faint-hearted, but you don’t have to be a die-hard club rider to take part either. They’re supportive rides ideal for anyone who wants to take their cycling to the next level – perfect preparation for a British Cycling Sportive or charity challenge ride.

Rides are taking place in Birmingham, Bournemouth, Haringey, Hillingdon, Ipswich, Leicester, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Redbridge, Richmond, Surrey and Watford.

Ride Leader, Steven Armstrong, said:

“The reason I like being a Ride Leader is the atmosphere on the rides, there’s no competiveness, everyone is friendly and I love meeting like-minded people who want to get on their bikes, push themselves a little and have fun at the same time. These rides are ideal for anyone who is perhaps training for a British Cycling sportive or charity bike ride or wanting to gauge their fitness levels. I’d recommend any adult who fancies a bit of challenge to give these rides a go.”

Funded by Sport England, the rides form part of Sky Ride Local, a national campaign from British Cycling and Sky aimed to offer a quality led-ride experience for people of all age and abilities and get as many more people on their bikes in 2013.

Participants must be over 16 as these are adult only rides. The pace of the ride could increase to 15mph at the discretion of the Ride Leader. Places must be booked in advance. For more information or to book on to the ride please visit www.goskyride.com
