Act early and register now for RideLondon 100, the brand-new twenty-thousand rider sportive which makes its debut in the capital on Sunday 4 August 2013.
In August 2013 a new event will be added to the international cycling calendar as some of the biggest names in the sport descend on London for the inaugural Ride London Classic, the centrepiece of a weekend of cycling in the capital that will see cyclist of all ages and abilities take to the streets at the height of the summer.
Following on from a SkyRide style entry event on the saturday. Sunday sees keen amateurs rule the roads for a short time as just hours before the world’s top cyclists race the RideLondon Classic, 20,000 cyclists will ride 100 miles over a modified version of the London 2012 Olympic Road Race route. Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by London 2012, RideLondon100 will start in the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follow the closed roads through the capital and onto Surrey’s stunning country roads and hills.
As well as an opportunity to take on a personal challenge in completing the course, participants’ involvement will benefit good causes - RideLondon aims to be the largest charity fund-raising cycle race in the world. There will be a business challenge within the RideLondon 100 where up to 1,000 teams of four riders will cycle around 25 miles each, changing over their timing device at three pre-ordained places on the route.

British Cycling is a key partner in the event, for which demand is expected to be very high. For British Cycling members, there will be a special opportunity for clubs to enter teams into the event - more details of this exciting development coming soon.
British Cycling's Cycle Sport and Membership Director, Jonny Clay, has been closely involved with the development of the event and he said:
"We're really excited about this event. It's emblematic of the growth in both cycling and cycling events in the UK. It is also clear evidence of cycling's shift towards the leisure and sport mainstream that an event of this size and footprint can now take place in London at the height of the summer."

Those not riding in RideLondon 100 can still get involved by supporting participants along the route and through a range of additional activities being presented as part of this weekend festival of cycling. The RideLondon100 will finish in iconic central London, shortly before the pro riders race in the Classic event on a similar route.
It is anticipated that the event will be over-subscribed and that a ballot will be held to allocate places in the event.
The RideLondon 100 will start in wave starts between 06:00 and 08:00 on Sunday 4 August 2013. Participants will be seeded, with their starting position indicative of ability and fitness, to deliver a safe and enjoyable event for all. All participants will need to be able to finish the 100 miles within around 9 hours in order to finish safely in advance of the RideLondon Classic finish and ride safely within a large group.
