With just ten days to go until the Nomads Going Beyond Cyclo sportive places are limited with more than 100 riders already registered.

This popular sportive was first staged as a celebration of Hitchin Nomads 80th Anniversary, and is returning on May 19th for the third tour of Hertfordshire.

An 80 mile option was added in 2012 by popular request to allow more enjoyment of the stunning course which, starts and finishes on the edge of town at Hitchin Rugby Club.

Certificates are awarded at the finish for all riders with Gold, Silver and Bronze standards to target depending on ability. In 2012 all riders received a high quality commemorative cycle jersey, with another surprise item of clothing anticipated in 2013.

The course received particularly positive feedback in previous years with a beautiful mix of quiet country roads, a few steady climbs, generally rolling countryside and some stunning views thrown in for good measure. It certainly put paid to the rumours that there are no hills in East Anglia.

Combining a great start location, (complete with showers and changing ), well stocked and plentiful feed stations, stunning scenery and cake at the finish – what more could you ask for on a Sunday morning ride?

The Sportive is organised to raise vital funds for Teach Africa, a charity set up to provide schooling for some of the brightest children from the Nairobi slums. Visit www.teach-africa.org to find out more about the work of this local charity.
