Ride the Peak Punisher and raise funds for Blythe House Hospice

Event: 19 May 2013
Location: Chapel Leisure Centre, Chapel-en-le-Frith, High Peak

Blythe House Hospice is delighted to announce the date of their first ‘Peak Punisher’ Sportive.

There are two route options to choose from on this demanding ride that takes place on Sunday 19 May starting and finishing at Chapel Leisure Centre.  The extremely challenging 100 mile route or the 100 kilometre routes take in some of the Peak District’s most iconic climbs including Winnats Pass and have been devised by Roger Palfreeman, a keen cyclist and former Team GB and British Cycling Doctor and current Doctor at Rapha Condor JLT.

The route follows mostly quiet and scenic roads, through some of the most impressive countryside the Peak District has to offer.   With well-stocked feed stations and hot food at the finish line, it’s expected to be an exciting ride for all participants.  There is free parking at the start venue and changing/showering facilities.

All the money raised from the ride will go to Blythe House Hospice, the only Hospice in the High Peak, where services are free to clients but not free to provide. It costs approximately £650,000 per annum to provide care and support services at Blythe House and we currently receive less than one third of this funding from the Primary Care Trust but have to raise £1800 per day from voluntary contributions and events.

Entry is £30 via the British Cycling online entry system here. Further information on the event can be found at www.peakpunisher.co.uk or by contacting the fundraising team at Blythe House Hospice on 01298 815388 or fundraising@blythehouse.co.uk
