Event: 10 November 2012
Location: Ponteland Leisure Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne

On 10 November 2012, Robbie Elliott and Phil Gray will be completing the final leg of their epic 3,500 mile charity bike ride in aid of The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer with a 33 mile cycle around Northumberland, and they want you to be involved.

The Robbie Elliott Foundation was launched in February 2012 to coincide with the late Sir Bobby Robson’s birthday on February 18th. The former England and Newcastle manager was an inspiration to Robbie and Bike For Bobby represents the Foundation’s first major challenge. Raising funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer Care, Robbie and his friend Phil Gray will embark on the adventure of a lifetime in October 2012.

Bike For Bobby will see the duo cycle from Lisbon to Newcastle via Porto, Eindhoven, Ipswich and London (Fulham and Wembley) as they pay tribute to Sir Bobby and his incredible work as a football manager of international repute.

Travelling more than 3,500 miles in less than four weeks, Robbie and Phil aim to raise thousands of pounds for the Foundation’s chosen charities. Bike For Bobby, as well as Robbie’s training and ‘first bike ride’, will be covered in a documentary and a worldwide publicity campaign which aims to capture the hearts and minds of the sporting public and those affected by cancer on both sides of the Atlantic.

The entry fee for the 33 mile challenge ride is just £20 per person, which includes a Bike for Bobby T-shirt as well as chip timing so you’ll know your exact finish time. Robbie is also looking for all entrants to raise £1 per mile (£33) for The Robbie Elliott Foundation, with all donations going to The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The challenge is open to anyone; however, riders under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
