Event: 3 March 2013
Location: Wythall, West Midlands

The Mad March Hare on Sunday 3rd March 2013 sees the event gain significant sponsorship and support for its fifth edition.

Paul Prince and Melanie Ingram, from Cult Racing Cycles, that organise the event have secured support from Cube Bikes along with Gatorade, Marie Curie and British Cycling. Melanie Ingram, organiser said ‘..we’d like to thank Dan White at Cube Bikes for supporting the event along with Gatorade, who will provide nutrition, and Marie Curie who we are raising money for in return for help from their staff on the day.’

The event has come a long way since its inception in 2009. Paul Prince, the original organiser said ‘My initial idea was to put on an early season event for riders and prove it could be done without charging a huge entry fee’. It was classed as a ‘no-frills’ event and the format proved popular. Paul continues ‘..the emphasis was on getting the basics right and I had a plan to grow the event from its initial 150 to 500 riders within five years and we achieved that in four’. The event is so popular now, it sells out very quickly. Two years ago all 400 places sold out in four days!

The 2013 event will have an entry limit of 600 riders. Entries are open and the event is already over a third full in just over a week.

The event is 72 miles long through beautiful Warwickshire and Worcestershire countryside and features the feared climb of Lark Stoke midway but with the feed station just past the summit, riders will have time to refuel for the heavy-going ride home.

Riders can enter via the British Cycling online entry system.
