British Cycling has had to cancel the Wilton GP Premier Calendar race on 12 August due to the Police resources, which were in place to ensure the safe running of the event, being redeployed to work on the Olympic Games in London. Regrettably, this also means that the Salisbury Sportive on 11 August will also not be going ahead.

As an alternative, British Cycling is offering Salisbury Sportive entrants the chance to transfer their entry to the Severn Bridges Sportive, which is taking place on Sunday 26 August.

The Severn Bridges Sportive

The Severn Bridge Sportive, run by Andy Cook Cycling Ltd, is back for 2012 and will take place on the new date of Sunday 26 August 2012 tying it in with the first ever Castle Combe Cycling Festival!

The event will offer riders the choice of a 56 mile route or a 100 mile (160km) route through some of the best countryside the area has to offer - and you won't need to decide on the route you're taking until you get to the split point on the day!

Each route will be comprehensively signed, with well stocked feed stations out on the route, motorcycle outrider support and First Aid Cover from the NEG and MediBikes.

There will be mechanical support provided on the day both at the start and at the feed station and there will also be a support car out on the road.
