It’s here! It’s new! The Lancashire Hotpot sportive – a fantastic late summer mass-participation cycling challenge event.

The whole event has been developed in close partnership with regional and local authorities and in liaison with British Cycling. Organisers Kilo To Go (of Cheshire Cat fame) called upon the best expertise and specialist knowledge in Lancashire and Blackpool to not only showcase the region but also bring the best in event organisation.

Adrian Leather, Chief Executive of Lancashire Sport Partnership, said, “The Lancashire Hotpot sportive forms part of an initiative to make Lancashire the number one county for cycling. The success of the event will help to raise monies for the Rising Star fund to ensure that young sportsmen, women and their families receive financial support to enable them to excel in their chosen sport.”

Visit Blackpool and Marketing Lancashire (partners to the event) see the event as a key initiative to bringing new visitors to Lancashire during a time when the Blackpool Illuminations are in full swing.

Set in Lancashire, the routes start at Blackpool Football Club and finish in Blackpool’s beautiful Victorian Stanley Park having visited the market town of Longridge, Clitheroe Castle, Forest of Bowland, and the Ashton Memorial in Lancaster. The event showcases some of Lancashire’s best cycling routes and incorporates a number of hilly challenges along the way: Jeffrey Hill, Nick of Pendle, Pendle Hill, Waddington Fell, and Trough of Bowland.
