Leading out from 250 metres, scratch rider Kristian Woolf (Prestige VC) claimed victory in the second round of the Northants CRA’s Late Spring Handicap Series over three laps of the 9.4-mile Old circuit.

The Kings Cliffe junior started at the back of the field alongside George Fox (45 Road Club), Richard Jones (Numplumz Mountainbikers) and Ryan Henry (Rockingham Forest Wheelers) with five minutes to make up, and they had caught the last of the three groups in front of them by the end of the second lap.

Jones attacked soon after the bell, gaining a maximum lead of 15 seconds, but he was reeled back in and after a couple of unsuccessful attempts to breakaway by Woolf, it left a bunch of around 40 riders to contest the finish – Woolf, not to be denied, holding off comeback-man James Moore (Welland Valley CC) and Gregg Payne (Arbis-Colbert Cycles RT) in the sprint.
