Event: 9 September 2012
Report: Snowdon Sports

Matt Clarke (Halesowen CC) left the rest of the field in his wake as he set off at a blistering pace in the final 20 miles of the Tour of the Wrekin.

On a hilly course, the race saw breaks occurring on a regular basis throughout with competition fierce.

The interruption of a combine harvester was the only thing that threatened the smooth running of the race but as all riders had to contend with it, officials decided to let the race run its course.

Clarke had been in among the breaks throughout but then on the final lap, he put the hammer down and soloed home 52 seconds ahead of Tony Kiss (Rapid Performance Coaching RT) in second place.

Dave Griffiths (Paramount CRT) was a further 20 seconds behind Kiss in third as Oliver Wilson (Birmingham University CC), Will Rudgard (Wolverhampton Wheelers) and (Cycle Shack/Forme Coaching RT) battled it out for fourth, eight seconds behind him.
