SHOWING his liking for the 1.6-mile circuit, Dan Babbs (Chelmer CC) led home a four-man break to win the sixth round of Ford CC’s Go-Race Series at the Dunton Engineering Centre in Essex.

The Chelmsford 36-year-old opened up a two-second gap over veteran Mick Bath (API-Metrow) in the sprint to secure his fourth victory of the series with Jason Fitchew (Ford CC), who had won the five-lap prime, in third place.

The three went clear with Tim Pettit (Essex Roads CC) shortly after the prime sprint and, in a shortened race due to the wet conditions, lapped consistently in around four minutes to build up a lead of well over a minute going into the final two laps.

Result:

1 Dan Babbs (Chelmer CC)
2 Mick Bath (API-Metrow)
3 Jason Fitchew (Ford CC)
4 Tim Pettit (Essex Roads CC)
5 Colin McPherson (BC Private Member)
6 Martin Elms (Southend Wheelers)
7 Tim Savage (Maldon CC)
8 John McMahon (Essex Roads CC)
9 John White (BC Private Member)
10 Brian Scarboro (Gemini BC)
