Report: Snowdon Sports

Powering clear in the uphill sprint to the line, Lee Ross (Edinburgh RC) celebrated his first road race win in his own club’s 44-mile Lothian Flyer Road Race at Stobo.

The 38-year-old had four seconds in hand over Drew Sharkey (TheBicycleWorks.com) at the summit with a further gap of two seconds to third-placed George Roberts (VC Glasgow South).

In a race punctuated by heavy showers, a large group of riders remained in contention after six full laps of the Dreva-Rachan-Drumelzier-Dawyck circuit before the final shake-up began on the seventh climb past Rachan Home Farm.

The race is run in memory of Archie Craig, the ‘Lothian Flyer’, who was a prolific competitor and tourist in the sport’s pre-war heyday.
