MIDDLEMARKER Michael Salter (Rockingham Forest Wheelers) sprinted to his first road race win since 2000 in round four of the Northants CRA Late Spring Series.

The 43-year-old veteran outsprinted junior Joel Lewis (Kettering CC) and the previous week’s winner John Ellis (Welland Valley CC) after three laps of the 10-mile Old circuit on an afternoon when the scratch riders failed to make an impact on the early starters in a 47-strong field.
