KETTERING junior James Hyde proved fastest in a 19-up sprint as the longmarker groups stayed clear to fight out the finish of the third round of the Northants CRA Spring Handicap Series.

Returning to form after an illness which ruined his off-road season last year, the Numplumz Mountainbikers 18-year-old relegated Warren Drew (Rockingham Forest Wheelers) to second place for the second successive week as the leading groups on the road again worked well together to hold the rest of the field at bay over three laps of the 10-mile Old circuit.
