The Champion System / Maxgear / Kyklos Racing Team has confirmed its line up for the 2012 season and new co-sponsor for next year’s campaign.

With the creation of the new, and very talented, junior squad the team has looked at increasing the team roster by inviting young talented riders who may be new to the sport of cycling. “We’ve signed up a few new riders this year who have come from other sports and show a great potential in cycling”, commented Team Director Wayne Greenhalgh. “We’ve been trialing a few athletes and they have shown massive potential with big engines, all we need to do now is teach them how to race and hopefully it will come together”.

The team has had great success in its marketing campaign with a number of new sponsors wanting to be involved with the team. Italian premium brand Kyklos has increased sponsorship and is now included in the team name.

Greenhalgh said “The unique approach and hopefully the success of the team has made the outfit very attractive to sponsors. Many sponsors have stayed with the team but attracting premium brands like Kyklos of Italy, Edco wheels from Switzerland, Ridley Forza components from Belgium and Champion Systems from Asia really shows that UK cycling is coming into its own. I believe we have riders that have the potential to win big races and combined with a cool image that’s all brands want.”

The team recently had its first boot camp in Welshpool, mid Wales, where all the squad took part in team building exercises and training rides in the tough Welsh mountains.

January is looking to be a busy month with the team defending its Revolution track series crown, currently lying in second place with two rounds to go. Then it’s off to the London Bike Show for the first team sponsor launch, followed a week later by the official launch at Matfen hall in Northumberland. The team will then have multiple training camps before their first race end February. The calendar shows a busy schedule with all the main Junior tours and the European classics like the Tour of Flanders on the team’s radar for the year. With many riders part of the Olympic Development Programme it is expected they will be selected for the Ncup races like Paris Roubaix and then the European and World Championships.
