The Tour of Britain
Event: 11-18 September 2011

Reigning World Champion Thor Hushovd will lead Garmin Cervélo's line-up at this year's Tour of Britain just a week before he defends his world title in Copenhagen.

The Norwegian, who will be making his Tour of Britain debut, won two stages of this summer's Tour de France, wearing the race leader's yellow jersey for a week, and is currently ranked fifteenth in the new IG Markets Pro Cycling Index.

Hushovd is joined in Garmin Cervélo's provisional line-up by a trio of British riders, led by former British Champion and multiple Grand Tour stage winner David Millar, Daniel Lloyd and double Tour of Britain stage winner Roger Hammond.

Martijn Maaskant and 2004 Tour of Britain Prostate Cancer Charity Points Jersey winner Julian Dean complete the six rider line-up.

"We are very pleased to have such a strong Garmin Cervélo line-up racing at this year's Tour of Britain, and very much look forward to welcoming the current World Champion Thor Hushovd to The Tour," said Race Director Mick Bennett.

"British fans will also be looking forward to seeing Roger Hammond, Dan Lloyd and David Millar in action. We saw during the Eneco Tour that David is currently in great form, so I'm sure he will be highly motivated to do well in The TfL London Stage Individual Time Trial."

The Tour of Britain begins in the Scottish Borders on Sunday 11 September, visiting England's Northwest, Stoke-on-Trent and the Staffordshire Moorlands. Two stages in the South West, in Devon and Somerset, are followed by a return to East Anglia, with a stage from Suffolk to Norfolk, before the final day of the race takes place in central London on Sunday 18 September, as the battle for the race leader's IG Markets Gold Jersey reaches its climax with an individual time trial and circuit race on the streets of Whitehall and Westminster.
