Theobalds Wins Dunton Go Race

Dunton Technical Centre, Laindon, Essex
Promoted by: Ford CC
Event: 30th June 2011
Report: Snowdon Sports

WITH the absence of series leader Martin Fisher, the fifth round of the Dunton Summer Series was wide open for the 51 starters who lined up in ideal conditions at Dunton Technical Centre in Laindon, Essex.

There were several attempts to escape the pack, but diligent work prevented any breaks succeeding success. Primes on laps two, six and eight were initially awarded to Andrew Ghagan, who was also first over the finish line. However, subsequently it was discovered that he was not eligible to ride Go Race events and hence was disqualified.

The remaining Prime on lap four was taken by Francis Theobalds (Willesden CC). The overall win was also taken by Theobalds, with Matt Haworth (Chelmer CC) second and Paul Spicely (Glendene CC) third.

That result means Haworth takes over the lead in the overall series standings with 307 points, while Essex Roads CC veteran Tim Pettit is second, just six points behind, while former series leader Martin Fisher of the promoting club drops down to eighth.

The series continues on July 14 at the Ford Dunton High Speed Track at 7pm.
