Elinor Barker (Cardiff Ajax) rode to hard earned victory in the fourth round of the Womens team series today(Sunday) on a testing Stratford course.Three laps of the fourteen mile, undulating course proved a leg burner for the riders with some being shelled out the back early on the first lap.The early pace setting was dictated by the For-Viored-Brookvex team who were out looking for points for the overall series championships and with a strong looking team would pretty much control proceedings on the day.

The first lap was kept together with no one taking any chances of breaking free on the demanding circuit.A good looking attack on the second lap saw Kara Chesworth(For-Viored) jump off the front of the bunch and being joined by Abergevanny's Lowri Bunn the two riders worked well together to eak out a useful lead. Elinor Barker took her chance to try and bridge the gap to the attacking pair and had pulled a good twenty second jump on the group who probably hadn't realised how strong a rider the young Welsh rider was.

A hard ride by Barker made the gap to Chesworth and Bunn and the three rode the final lap to a sprint which saw Barker take the gallop from Chesworth by half a wheel with Bunn taking the third spot.

Elinor Barker spoke to us after the race: "That wasn't expected. I wanted to get away with around a kilometre to go but couldn't. I'm not really a sprinter but I think the slight uphill to the finish helped a bit because I do like the hills. I went away on the second lap. Someone attacked and I counter-attacked and got away. I'm resting now for a few weeks, not to sure where the next race is - I get driven there and jump on my bike !(laughs)"

In an earlier version of this report, we ascribed the win to Amy Roberts - this was due to a mix up in race numbers. We apologise to Amy and Elinior for this mix-up.
