Meet our amazing Ride Leaders

Posted: 4th July 2011

Did you know that British Cycling has trained a team of over 700 fantastic Ride Leaders who are helping thousands more people get into recreational cycling across the country? Meet Ollie Golding, one of the growing team of Ride Leader colleagues.

‘I am 40 and my day job is as a Bikeability Instructor. I decided to train to be a British Cycling Ride Leader in 2009. I got involved because I have had so much pleasure out of my cycling, it has changed my life dramatically, from both a health and social point of view and even my career! My goal is to share the experience by enthusing others and guiding them through their journey into the cycling world.'

We asked Ollie:

What's your favourite Sky Ride Local ride? The Kent Explorer - beautiful countryside, lavender fields, poppy fields, villages and excellent carrot cake!

Your top tip for a new bike rider? Take the time to really enjoy it!

Tell us about your first bike? A fold up Raleigh shopping bike, complete with basket which I tried to sit my little brother in......

What else do you do in cycling, when you have time? After the 2010 Sky Rides came to an end, I helped to set up a new club in the Greenwich and Bexley area. On 7th November 2010, Limited Edition Cycling had its first official ride with a total of 7 riders. Today we have 38 members, made up from cycling friends, Skyriders, complete beginners and a growing kids club. Our mission: to encourage cycling in all its forms and to encourage the individual cyclist to reach their own unique cycling goals. Each of us has a different reason for cycling, from following grandchildren around the park to racing and mountain climbing, every member is unique and I am proud of every member of 'Team Limited Edition'.
