2013 Nutcracker Altura MTB Series

The 2013 edition of the popular Yorkshire-based mountain bike race series is to open for entries today from 21st January.

Now in their fourth year, the guys at Nutcracker Racing – the organisation behind the race series - have secured a long term partnership with cycling clothing brand Altura Technical Bikewear, also based in Yorkshire. The partnership is represented by the headline inclusion of the Altura brand – this year being the “Nutcracker Altura MTB Series”.

Commenting on the new partnership, James Hall of Nutcracker Racing said “We’re really pleased to announce that we’ll be working with Altura going forwards. Not only is it a fantastic brand producing some really great products, but these guys have similar visions to ourselves in terms of MTB racing in Yorkshire – and in an era when the cycling World is focussed on Yorkshire it’s important to have a partner sharing in our drive and passion to make the series better than ever before!”

Long term partners RWD Brakes continue to support the series through 2013, together with Biketreks of Ambleside and cleaning brand Rhino Goo.

The series kicks off in true style with a return to Dalby – the Great Yorkshire Forest on Sunday March 10th. The event promises to be a nostalgic one for Dalby Bike Barn and Pace Cycles owner Adrian Carter, who initiated the trend of MTB racing in Dalby Forest back in the late 1990s. With this in mind, Nutcracker Racing have teamed up with Dalby Bike Barn to deliver an all new course, starting and finishing at the Barn, which is located in Low Dalby village adjacent to the visitor centre.

Entry fee prices have been held at 2012 levels and the guys at Nutcracker Racing have announced that any profits made from the 2013 series will fund a small Youth racing team. Details will be announced over the coming weeks and youngsters will be invited to apply for a place on the team following Nutcracker Altura 1 at Dalby Bike Barn.

“There’s a recognition on our part that our Youth riders are the future of the Nutcracker series. We’d like to invest in that future and develop a small squad of youth riders every year with the aspiration of competing at more of a national level. We’re not fully decided on the final format of this yet – but we are decided that it will go ahead and we’ll be releasing details across the next few weeks” commented Adey Dent of Nutcracker Racing.

Following Nutcracker Altura 1 at Dalby Bike Barn, the series returns on Easter Sunday – 31 March. Details of this event are to be released within the next 10 days.
