Event: 13-14 August 2011
Report: Chris Roberts

South West Extreme in Devon is the location for rounds 5 and 6 of the 2011 Schwalbe British Four-Cross Series.

Lewis Lacey (above left) will return to action in Bideford

The track, which was used for the Four-Cross National Championships in 2010, is a favourite for riders and spectators alike as it provides fantastic racing on the open hillside. South West Extreme has one of the roughest tracks in the UK with a rock section, loose, flat turns, and a pro line that has huge step ups and double jumps.

Over the first four rounds there have been three different winners in the elite class - Scott Beaumont, Pat Campbell Jenner and Scott Roberts and that rivalry looks set to continue on both days at South West Extreme as the riders battle it out once more. Add to those three the likes of Nathan Parssons, Tom Dowie and Will Evans and predicting a winner gets very tough.

The event sees the welcome return of Lewis Lacey. After a year away dealing with several injuries, Lewis is back and will no doubt throw a spanner in the works for the other riders. With big elite entries all year, the elite racing is set to be some of the best ever seen here in the UK.

In the women's class, Nichola Anderson has been the most consistent rider all year and will again be looking to get the better of the others on both days. Suzanne Lacey, Cara Murray and Jess Greaves will all be gunning for glory and trying to tighten up the overall points. Unfortunately, due to a crash at the downhill World Cup last weekend in La Bresse, Katy Curd will not be racing.
