Night of the Knobbly Tread
Event: 22nd Ocotber 2011
Event Details

Regular Mountain Bike promoters the West Drayton MBC have confirmed their latest open promotions, both taking place at Black Park, near Slough with the permission of Bucks County Council.

The first takes place on Saturday 22nd October and is the Night of the Knobbly Tread, a short night time cross country race featuring both a fun event for those yet to sample the intense buzz of racing in the dark and an open event for those experienced night time racers. With the races being close to Halloween, in addition to the prizes for the first across the line and age related prizes there will be prizes for the riders sporting the best fancy dress.

Generous sponsorship from Exposure lights and Party lights should see the prize winners going away with some nice goodies. Race distances are nine miles for the fun race which will start at 7pm and fifteen miles for the open event which will start at 7:50pm both around a fast twisting 3 mile circuit that will be a mixture of wide forest tracks and tight single track.

John Cookson from Exposure lights states: "There is a plethora of long distance endurance events throughout the night but very few short night time cross country races and we are proud to be associated with this inaugural event that should see some new riders sampling the thrill of racing in the dark as well as seeing some intense close run battles in the open event around a circuit that always features fast close racing."

As always the team from Exposure will be on hand with their latest wares and to give advice on lighting systems. It is hoped to create a party atmosphere at the event with free hot dogs and drinks being handed out to all competitors at the prize giving.

Black Park Duathlon

Event Details

The following day on the 23rd it's the Black Park Duathlon and a mixture of true duathletes, runners and mountain bikers are expected to do battle for supremacy and take the podium places and prizes supplied by race and West Drayton club sponsors Beyond Mountain Bikes and the Sweat Shop Windsor.

Race format will be a three mile run followed by a 12 mile mountain bike ride and then a further 3 mile run to finish. The mountain bike race will be around a very similar course to the previous day's night time race with the run around a separate 1.5 mile off road circuit.
