Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme
Event: 10 September 2011
A fantastic afternoon's racing was had by all the competitors in the first Lyme Racing Club Go-Ride Omnium on the grass at Chatterley Close, Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Using the format of an omnium, the first event was a timed skill test using a gate relay followed by a time trial on a grass oval before finishing off with a scratch race again on the grass oval.
Before each event a little coaching was given and feedback given to help the competitors to get the most out of the event. Positions in each event were used to work out the overall results. Due to the large number of under 8s and so everyone had fun (and a chance of a medal), under 6s and under 4s categories were added.
The event was a huge success with all the kids and parents going away with smiles on their faces. Next year Lyme Racing Club will be running a series of events to go along with their very successful Go-Ride coaching program for members and non-members.
