On Saturday 20th April Roch Valley Raiders held the 3rd round of their Go-Ride Racing BMX series at Heywood BMX track. BMX racing is an action packed cycling discipline which tests a rider's skills to the limit. Races take place over a short course and run with up to 8 riders of a similar age/ability at a time. The BMX track consists of jumps, bumps and banked corners (berms). Each rider competes in 3 races (motos).

The event attracted 33 rider’s aged between 5 and 16, some riders already members from Roch Valley Raiders BMX club, some from other North West BMX clubs and others who just wanted to have a go on the day. The race was the 3rd of 6 events that will be held at the track, with riders competing for end of season trophies.

BMX Coach Craig Mills said ”It was a really good day, the sun was shining and the level of racing was amazing, you can see the improvement of all the riders after only 3 events.”

The race series has been a great success, Club Secretary Yvonne Mills said "The members love the chance to step up and enjoy the younger ones racing and the kids love that at each event we have managed to give them a medal and certificate and are now aiming for end of season trophies when we plan to hold a presentation evening for them so they can invite family and friends".
