Early in September, Club Cyclopark played host to the Go-Ride Interclub Competition as young riders in the Under 16 and Under 12 age groups raced several different events depending on discipline.

Mountain bikers completed an Individual Time Trial followed by a Mass Start Race, while road riders faced a Mass Start Race, followed by a team Time Trial, rounded off with an Individual Time Trial. All of the races utilised the closed circuits of the Cyclopark allowing for fast and technical racing.

In total, 10 clubs from across the South East competed with riders from Bedgebury Boars, Sutton CC, Club Cyclopark, Wigmore CC, VC Jubilee, Team Darenth, San Fairy Ann, Southborough Wheelers, Woolwich CC and Kent Velo Kids taking part. Needless to say the diversity of club ensured every event was hotly contested.

In the mountain biking, the Under 12s Individual Time Trial was extremely close with the top three finishing within three seconds of each other. Jack Lear (Bedgebury Boars) took first, Dominic Cook (Sutton CC) came in second and Liam Burnett (Club Cyclopark) finished third. The Under 12s mass start was also close with a lot of technical talent being displayed by the junior riders. Cameron Coxon (Wigmore CC) took first, Jack Lear (Bedgebury Boars) came in second and Oscar Brewster Bedgebury Boars) took third. Overall victory in the Under 12s went to Jack Lear (Bedgebury Boars), with Cameron Coxon (Wigmore CC) taking second and a joint third going to Toby Pallas (Bedgebury Boars) and Oscar Brewster (Bedgebury Boars).

The mountain biking for the Under 16s was fast and furious as James Flurry (Team Darenth) took the win in both the Individual Time Trial and the Mass Start Race, but was closely followed by Mathew Buck (Woolwich CC) who took second in both events. Jack Miller (Woolwhich CC) came third in the Individual Time Trial. Louis Suggett (Sutton CC) finished third in the Mass Start Race. The overall win was taken by James Flurry (Team Darenth), while Mathew Buck (Woolwich CC) finished second and Toby Martin (Team Darenth) and Jack Millar (Woolwich CC) finished joint third.

Over on the road in the Under 12s, Ethan Godden (Wigmore CC) demolished the field taking first in the Mass Start Race and the Individual Time Trial. Jospeth McGrath gave a spirited performance to take joint second in the Individual Time Trial and second the Mass Start Race. Second place in the Individual Time Trial also went to Calvin Hooper (Southborough Wheelers) and Tom Wright (VC Jubilee). Third Place in the Mass Start Race went to Joseph Winston (Wigmore CC). Overall victory went to Ethan Godden (Wigmore CC), second was Joseph McGrath (Club Cyclopark) and Calvin Hooper (Southborough Wheelers) in third.

In the Under 16s, Sam Titmarsh (Team Darenth) and Josh Allen (Woolwich CC) secured joint first in the Individual Time Trial and a one two in the Mass Start Race. Dan Nash (Team Darenth) secured third in the Individual Time Trial and Harry Clarke (Sutton CC) finished third in the Mass Start Race. The overall Individual win went to Sam Titmarsh (Team Darenth) in first place, Josh Allen (Woolwich CC) in second and Harry Clarke (Sutton CC) in third.

Good performances all round made this an exciting and enjoyable event. Thank you and congratulations to all of those who took part. The talent displayed in the junior riders bodes well for cycling in the South East.

Thank you to the organisers and volunteers at the event, without your input and support this event would not have been possible.
