Tao Geoghegan Hart who has had a fantastic season so far has made selection for the team, as has fellow second year junior Germain Burton, who is on good form having won a stage of the prestigious Course de la Paix last week. The rest of the team is made up of first year juniors Gabriel Cullaigh, Matt Gibson and Joe Evans as well as Jacob Scott who rides as a guest to the ODP squad.

"I’m looking to Tao and Germain to show the younger guys what they’ve learnt about riding as a team"

British Cycling Olympic Development Programme Endurance Coach Matt Winston

The International Three Days in Axel is in its 32nd year with 198 riders expected to take to the start line. Contested over four stages, the course takes in everything from the cobblestones to the hills of Flemish Ardennes.

Speaking of his selection, coach Matt Winston said: “This UCI 2:1 stage race is a good opportunity for the younger guys on the ODP squad to gain some international race experience. We have had some really strong results in the Nations Cup series with the team riding really well together. I’m looking to Tao and Germain to show the younger guys what they’ve learnt about riding as a team and we will go through the process and break it down for the younger riders so they can learn from it and develop as riders.”

Wales are also fielding a team at the race, which includes GB ODP riders Scott Davies, Zach May and Jake Ragan along with Welsh cyclist Owen James.
