An inspired Jon Dibben scored Britain's third medal of the 2012 junior track world championships, winning silver in the omnium event.

Dibben told British Cycling he had been focusing on the six-discipline competition, drawing on the performance of Olympic bronze medal winner Ed Clancy for tips and inspiration. In his final year of British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme, coach Matt Winston also underlined the importance of Dibben's performance to develop the skills required if he wants to progress to the Olympic Academy.

From winning bronze at the European championships in July, Dibben was much improved at the race he dubbed "the big one for the year", winning the flying lap, individual pursuit and kilo, his only bogey performance coming in the elimination race where he finished tenth.

Also on day three of the championships, Amy Roberts followed up her two bronze medals in the team pursuit and finished fouth in the scratch race, while Matt Rotherham progressed to the 5th-8th final in the sprint, finishing sixth.

Elinor Barker closed the day finishing second in the elimination race - the final event on day one of the women's omnium. Third in the flying lap and fourth in the points race, Roberts placed second overall going into day two and looks to repeat the medal performance of Dibben.

Coverage resumes tomorrow, with action from the women's omnium and the men's individual pursuit.
