2011-12 UCI Track World Cup Round 3
Event: 12-15 January 2012
Location: Beijing, China
Report: Eddie Allen

Above: Becky James, who was in action in the women's sprint.

Day three at the Laoshan Velodrome saw sprinters Becky James and Victoria Williamson back in action in the women’s sprint, Callum Skinner contesting the Keirin and Sam Harrison a lone GB rider in the individual pursuit.

First onto the boards was Sam Harrison in the individual pursuit, qualifying sixth fastest on 4:29.505, missing out on a medal ride by just half a second. Peter Latham (NZL) and Mitchell Mulhearn (AUS) qualified for the gold medal ride, with the Kiwi almost two seconds faster that the Australian. Kevin Labeque (FRA) and Valery Kaykov (RUS) secured places in the bronze final.

Next on track from Great Britain were Becky James and world cup debutant Victoria Williamson, who qualified 19th and 20threspectively. James clocked 11.582 seconds for the flying 200m, while Williamson was eight hundredths behind. With only the top 16 qualifying for the 1/8 finals, both James and Williamson exited the competition at the qualifying stage.

The final Great Britain rider to take to the track with Callum Skinner in the Keirin. Skinner finished third in his heat and therefore went into the first round repechages. However Skinner left the competition at that stage, finishing fourth in his repechage heat, with only the winning rider progressing.
