Following on from the recent announcement of the re-establishment of the residential BMX academy, British Cycling today confirmed that current British Champion Marcus Bloomfield has been appointed as the part-time BMX Academy Coach, whilst six promising young BMX riders have been accepted on to the programme.

The first intake of riders includes Abbie Taylor, who won Silver in the Junior event at this year’s World Championships, along with Kyle Evans, Grant Hill, Dan McBride, Curtis Manaton and Tre Whyte.

GB BMX coach Grant White, who will oversee the Academy, said: “We’re excited to have Marcus join the BMX coaching team. I worked with Marcus when he was an athlete on the GB programme and I know he has the skills, experience and personality to develop the young riders we’ve accepted onto the programme. All the young riders have been on our radar for a while and most have already been training under our Olympic Development Programme, but it’s great to now have the next step in the structure in place for young, talented BMX riders in Great Britain.”
