UNDER-23 Adam Martin (Cestria Cycles RT) followed up his strong showing at the first National Trophy event by securing his second win of the Yorkshire Points Series in dry conditions at Huddersfield New College.
The Pelton 18-year-old led from the start and was 15 seconds up after the first of seven laps with Nick Barnes (Zepnat RT) and Dieter Droger (Dirtwheels Racing) working hard together to hold the gap.
Droger plugged away as Barnes dropped back and Neal Crampton (Crosstrax) moved into third place, but although he got back to within 12 seconds on the final lap, Martin was in control on the dry course of mainly field and grass.
A crash took out likely contenders Matt Denby (Team Jewson) and John Hick (Holme Valley Wheelers) in the early stages of the veterans race as Charles Taylor (Pedalsport CC) made his customary fast start at the head of a field of 111 riders.
Taylor had been joined by team-mate Chris Young, Noel Clough (Fietsen Tempo) and Ian Taylor (Craven Energy) by the end of the opening lap, and Young and Ian Taylor then steadily moved clear of the rest before the latter put the pressure on with two laps to go.
The gap was out to 15 seconds at the bell and continued to rise to leave Ian Taylor 47 seconds clear at the line with Mike Young (Pedalsport CC) growing stronger as the race progressed and coming through to catch Chris Taylor on the last lap for third place.
Adela Carter (Hope Factory Racing) had an excellent race as first woman in eighth place overall.
Chris Barnes (Zepnat RT) continued his unbeaten run in the youth series, leading all the way, with a good battle behind him for second place going to Alfie Moses (Paul Milnes RT) on the last lap over Tom Seaman (Wakefield Junior Tri).
