Polish international Cycle Speedway star Konrad Pietak has finally arrived in Coventry – and goes straight into the number one slot for this Sunday home match against Birmingham (2pm).

After being delayed for three weeks due to the severe weather in Poland, Pietak arrived in Coventry last weekend after a gruelling 1100 mile overland journey from the Polish southern city of Czestochowa.

The 28 year old, Coventry's leading scorer last season, will head the Coventry attack against Birmingham, who also compete in the top tier Elite League, at Hearsall Common.

He will be partnered by rising local Earlsdon junior James Kirrane.

The recent productive pairing of Myke Grimes and on-loan Bretford whizz-kid Mason Phillips continues, whilst team boss Lee Marsh will decide shortly before start time on his third pairing.

Commencing this Wednesday, and continuing every Wednesday until October, the Coventry club will stage special 'come and try it ' sessions for newcomers at their Hearsall Common track. The sessions commence from 6.30pm.

Newcomers of all ages can have a free trial, with the 11-16 year old age group being particularly targeted by the booming Coventry club, whose membership levels have already hit record highs.
