Leicester beat Birmingham in the BCTG Elite League meeting after taking full advantage of the match-up being at their home venue on Saturday.

Work commitments for riders or their parents was the main reason why neither side could field full-strength sides, but the clash went ahead as best they could.

Birmingham’s heat leader strength kept the scores fairly close for much of the match in the main event, with Paul Heard notching a superb maximum. However in the latter stages the visitors ran out of options, the home side gaining three maximums in the last four heats to stretch their lead.

The combination match was all one way traffic, however there was some sporting racing later on in the match particularly from Chris Timms who produced the race of the day against the Kemp boys.

Results:

Leicester 100: J Ashford 18, P Howells 17, L Nowacki 16+2, C Marchant 14+3, A Stephenson 12+3, K Burns 11+3, A Doughty 8+1, J Kemp 5+1.

Birmingham 76: P Heard 19+1, D Rycharski 19, C Timms 9+1, P Timms 9, R Stevenson 7, Reece Winwood 4, J Ryan 4, D Hexley 3.

Combination Result: Leicester 82, Birmingham 48.
