Location: Leicester Cycle Speedway, Leicestershire
Event: 16 September 2012
Report: Tim Jarvis

With the league champions at full strength and Leicester yet again fielding a weakened team, the result of this encounter was never in doubt, but the home side did at least show some fight.

Although the first eight heats only produced two heat wins for the home side, both courtesy of Marchant, the Hammers only held a slender five point advantage.

Cue their super reserves Boaler and Rudman in the ninth, the England internationals taking the heat with a maximum score and extending the lead prior to the interval.

The visitors sealed the match with further maximums in heats thirteen and fourteen, but after claiming the inside grids the Monarchs had a rider cross the line first in the final four heats to make the score line respectable.

Horspath were strong throughout their line up with Carmichael and Bates probably being the pick, Marchant dropped just a point for the Monarchs whilst Stephenson chipped in with a couple of wins late on.

Another pat on the back for a referee. This time Bob Prince who controlled the match with authority and fairness, a fact acknowledged by both sides.
