Event: 15 July 2012

This Sunday Hull Cycle Speedway Club stage one of the sports most prestigious events at The Hessle Raceway.

The British Team Knock out Cup Finals sponsored by The Co-oprative Funeralcare features a magnificent trophy that has been competed for since 1950.  Four teams have battled through qualifying rounds to take part in the semi-finals and hopefully the Final on a circuit that guarantee’s exciting racing.

The first semi-final at 11am brings together Wednesfield from the Midlands and Horspath from the Oxford area who were both probably hoping to avoid each other until the final.  Wednesfield have won the cup on an incredible ten occasions while their rivals have come to the fore more recently with two victories in the last five years. Horspath may just have the psychological edge having defeated their opponents in an Elite League fixture last Sunday but a full blooded encounter is certainly on the cards.

At 1pm the second semi will bring together teams from Leicester and Ipswich.  Neither of these sides are having great seasons in the Elite League but will be focusing their attention on taking home the silverware.  Leicester have a fantastic pedigree in this competition having last triumphed in 2010 and in Adam Stephenson they have a rider with plenty of track knowledge as he also competes for Hull in the regional Northern League.  Ipswich will point to their team spirit and pride in tracking local talent as their key to progressing.

The final will start at 3.30pm and admission is free while a barbeque, refreshments, souvenir programmes and match commentary will all be available on the day.
