Event: 5 May 2012

The 2012 British Club Championships, cycle speedway's leading team competition, commences on Saturday 5 May.

Astley & Tyldesley are staging the U10 British Club Championship, the first of seven age category events that make up this series. The host club will be competing against five other teams - the holders Kesgrave (Suffolk), Ipswich, Poole, Wednesfield (Wolverhampton) and Sheffield.

Poole were runners-up in last year's U-10s competition, on their way to winning the overall series, so they will be starting their defence of the British Club Championship tomorrow.

The Mayor of Wigan, Councillor Joy Birch, will be in attendance to present the awards to the competing riders. The first race is at 2pm, for further details, visit the club's website at www.astleycyclespeedway.org.uk
